Best type of hair dye for dying red hair??

hello everyone, i have a friend who really wants to change the colour of her hair, but no matter which hair dye she puts in her hair, the red stays.

she has even used the pre lightener, which made her hair really blonde at the top then copper in the actual length of it lol, so she put an ash brown colour in it, and it has gone a more lighter red lol.

she is stressing at the bit, wanting to change her colour,

would it only really be the hair dyes that hair dressers use that would change the colour, or is there a specific brand of hair dye that is good with red hair?

In my opinion the best hair dye for good conditionuing in clairol, loreal is quite dry. It's needs to be stipped with hairdresser bleach (not household bleach) and then colour it. The bleach may make it quite dry so after colouring use good conditioner and maybe hot oil over next few days

she bleached her hair out too much so color is not lasting. she needs a filler in her hair.

get a box of store color and call the 800 number on the back. they will tell you how to make a filler and re-color the hair.

i like loreal brands.

Hi I wouldnt go for something too dark as the roots will be more noticeable. But how about an auburn or chesnut colour so that the roots will blends in or a light brown. If you look on the back of the dyes it will tell you the colour you will go if you are ginger

She'll probably need to use a professional line of color w/ an ash base to cancel out the red OR a color w/ a Blue base! Tell her to find a good professional Haircolorist in her area and it shouldn't be very hard at all!

i would go to a hair dressers, because they will treat her hair as well, i have been a few times to the hair dressers, (i am a red head to) and my hair has such a lovely feel to it, and is so shine, and brillaint condition.

it is more money, but it is done correctly.

hi, book in at a reputable salon for their model night. it will be a fraction of the cost and colour correction (which your friends hair will need) is always great experience for a up and coming colour technician. remember to allow alot more time though. you could also try your local hairdressing college. it is always supervised so dont worry. good luck
