Why won't my hair dye stay?

I used to bleach my hair blonde, but my natural color is brown. But one summer I decided to dye my hair auburn... My hair dyed, but the dye only lasted for about a week. I thought it may just have been because of the bleaching. But since then I have dyed my hair a lot of different colors. I have had my hair professional dyed. I have switch my shampoos/conditioners several times. I have tried wearing the dye for longer than it said. I have not washed my hair for three days after dying it. But no matter what I do my hair won't hold dye for longer than a week. And it just always goes back to this nasty sort of orangey-copper color...I am so fed up...Any ideas on the problem or a solution?

Why won't my hair dye stay?

The cuticle layer of your hair is wide open due to previous colorings. The color goes in easily but it also leaks out just as easily. Bleaching the hair is the major reason for this. Secondly, you went over the bleached hair without using a filler first. Thirdly, red dyes have a larger molecular structure...causing them to have less ability to adhere and stay within the hair. The longer your hair is the greater it increases abnormal porocity. Think of how many times the ends of each strand has had chemicals run over them. It becomes "old" hair more quickly with each chemical service. I know this was a bit "technical" but I hope it helped.

Why won't my hair dye stay?

Its nothing that you are really doing wrong. Its the pigment in you hair and the pigment in the dye. You can ask any beautician red ever holds to the the pigment it always fades. Its just the way the dye is. But to help go a couple shades darker than what you want and only use semi-perment color it does less damage to you hair and you can update you color more often without hurting your hair. but use a deep conditioner and color protection shampoo! Trust ME!... make sure though that you get it at the salon and NOT the store,( its not the good stuff)

Why won't my hair dye stay?

ok listen up sweetie al u do is u go and get it dyed by a salon let them do it and tell them ur problem and then after they do it dont wash ur hair fo 5 days after they do that i know its nasty but the dye stays in longer.=]

Allergic reaction to hair dye?

ok i have the tendency to dye my hair.. obviously...i have never had a problem with dying my hair till about a year ago i dyed it black and the next day tried to put bright red highlights that were supposed to work with black hair (without bleaching) needless to say it didn't work and i started semi breaking out. well the day after that i redyed my hair back to black ( i know very very bad for my hair) and i later fully broke out because or some type of reaction about two months ago i redyed my hair again to cover my brown and i broke out once again....so my question is do u think i caused my self to become allgergic to hair dye or might it just be because i used cheap hair dye the last two times i've dyed my hair

Allergic reaction to hair dye?

I think it may be the kind of dye you are using. You could have some problems with the acid in the dye. However, this would not pop up just because you colored your hair twice or three times in a row. I have done that before to my self and friends.

However dye can be very hard on your skin.

Try going to a salon, have them try and see what happens with some high end chemicals that are less harsh on the process, your hair and your head.

In order for the chemicals to work that are in the store, they use different reactor chemicals than the ones used in a salon.

Sucks, sorry to hear about the problem.

Allergic reaction to hair dye?

Can you please let me know if you have found a soloution to your problem. Have you tried a semi-permanant dye ? Report It

Allergic reaction to hair dye?

each time you dye your hair you sorta burn your skin.So yes i think you over did it before and now your skin is allergic too it.

Allergic reaction to hair dye?

Thats because hair dye from teh box has peroxide in it, which is unhealthy to not only you, but the planet. im sure its very common to get allergic reactions to hair color that isnt professional. next time go to a salon, and im sure you will be safe. good luck =]

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

Two days ago I went to a salon to have my hair dyed dark brown, because my darker natural color was starting to grow out. The salon screwed up my hair and dyed my hair black. I lost $50 on this deal. Then, the next day, I decided to go to a different salon and have them repair the damage. The woman told me because my hair was black, we would need to clean and extract the previous dye, then start from scratch and dye my hair brown. She recommended a very light brown because she said the black and the very light brown would give me the dark brown hair I wanted, close to my natural color. Well, my hair turned out very, very light brown, almost a dirty blond. This cost me $100. I am very upset and my scalp is red and irrated from all the chemical treatment - my hair feels like it is going to fall out - its is very dry and damaged.

Is there anything I can do to make my hair the darker brown color that I want, without doing more damage to my hair and scalp??

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

go back to the salon and have them fix it the right way.

you should have gone back to the first salon first. I would not try anything yourself- go to the salon and tell them you hate it and you want it fix the right way. talk to the manager.

good luck- been there done it.

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

Let your natural hair grow out and then dye it the way you want.

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

Just leave it alone for a while--you don't want it to fall out! That is horrible that neither salon tried to correct it to your satisfaction and still charged you for it. You should call a different salon and see what kind of products they recomend to get your hair back to normal before you try to color it again. Good luck...talk about a nightmare!

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

OK 1. no more dyeing.... let it repair

2. u can use a highlighter for Ur hair ( the stuff that wash out in the shower is pretty much one of the only opinions u got. but trust me no more dyeing for a while.

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

go to a professional hairdresser.............it may be more expensive but it will get you what you want

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

I don't think that you need to put anymore chemicals on your hair at this time. It sounds as if your hair was very porous the first time it was colored. That is why it grabbed the color and made it too dark. There are colored mousses that you can use to acheive a darker look than you have now without coloring again.

You also need to use a deep treat conditioner to help your hair regain its moisture balance.

If you do decide to color again make sure that they do not use a permanent color on your hair. It is harsher than a semi-permanent. But for now I would leave your hair alone.

Hair Dye Question - Need Help!?

Hopefully, you have already been to the salon manager and demanded your money back.

As for your hair color, you might want to try a rinse. You will have to do it every day, but it will get your hair darker without damaging your scalp. They can look a little bit flat/single tone, but it would help get rid of a really bad color. Similarly, a brown shampoo with tinter in it will help over time.

However, if you have really damaged your scalp badly, you may want to do the coloring as little as possible, at least until your head starts feeling better. In the meantime, you will definately want to invest in some deep conditioning treatments to get your hair back into shape; you can get them at Sally Beauty or a similar store for $1 apiece OR simply put conditioner in your hair, wrap with a damp towel/saran wrap, and sit in steam for 1/2hr before rinsing.

Hair dye help, dark hair to blonde?

I have died my hair several times, and i would like to be blonde. My natural hair colour is light brown. And the colour i have now won't lift, it is dark brown/black with bright blonde roots. I have the blonde roots because i already had roots of my natural hair colour and I tried bleaching it with Loreal Paris Blonde Supreme box dye. The roots are all that went blonde, the rest of my hair is still dark, lighter than before but still very dark. I cannot afford getting my hair done professionally. If i try a better box bleach like Flash Lightning ( a higher lift), to bleach it, and then dye it with blonde dye on top of that would that work or are there any suggestions. i am freaking out over what to do!

Hair dye help, dark hair to blonde?

You need to strip your hair to get it right

Hair dye help, dark hair to blonde?

you would either have to Bleach it or Strip it either way its really damaging. Hair color will never lift dark hair color.

Hair dye help, dark hair to blonde?

If I were you, I'd save up some money and get it professionally done before your hair falls out or breaks off.

Correcting red hair dye.?

Hi,

I dyed my hair "dark reddish brown" with Garnier Nutrisse boxed dye over my dark brown semi-permenant colored hair. My real hair is dark brown but I wanted to "intensefy" it. Anyway, my roots came out red and the rest of my hair stayed brown with red tones. Today, I went out and purchased Ion Brilliance dye in "medium ash brown" and "darkest brown". I bought the medium ash brown thinking I would correct the red but I think I made a mistake in mixing it with a 20 developer instead of 10 to just deposit. Now my roots are even redder and the rest of my hair is a dark dark brown with TONS of red tones, which I hate. I really want to try and atleast fix my roots, take out the red without having to go to my hair stylist. Do you guys think it'd be a good idea to try and dye a dark ASH brown over it to correct the red? I was thinking of just doing the same darkest brown dye but I think it would just stick with the red tones since most brown dyes do that.

Help? :(

Correcting red hair dye.?

try bleaching your hair and then dying it after.

Correcting red hair dye.?

The best thing to do is stop dying it.. lol. Anyways, it will definitely fade as you wash it more, because red doesn't have "staying" power.. But if you do wish to dye, I would NOT use "ash" anything... Use a semi-permanent dye.. in a medium brown perhaps.

Correcting red hair dye.?

get a *deposit only* hair color and just do your roots.

Correcting red hair dye.?

green is the opposite of red on the color cycle so it cancels out the green....you need a hair color with no peroxide so you don't risk lifting your hair at all in a an ash shade..you should try to do the roots only..this would bring them to a darker color that would look more natural...if you go to a salon they are going to do the same thing...except that will probally dye your entire head dark brown....their is a product called loving care....its no peroxide no ammonia..it washes out you could try this without risking more damage...good luck i know the feeling i have had all kinds of color disasters even the one you have as well...i actually have the same color on my hair right now as you do

Correcting red hair dye.?

hon,be careful for using too much dye in your hair can cause drying %26amp; breakage. %26amp; it might turn an awful color..i suggest using somethng semi-permanent, that has no peroxide,no bleach! for sure stay away from them.

If you have a Sally's beauty supply in your area, these ladies can be very helpful.I've been using a "lights %26amp; brights" that's tinted w/brown,it's safe %26amp; stays on pretty good.it's put out by Ardele..they may also have other products, even if they do not have this one.or go to Sally's beauty supply on line..

also, try using the temporary rinses, for now, just to be safe ,to give your hair a break..You might want to put a deep heat conditioner on now too!.Did you know carrot juice is GOOD for your hair? check out the ingrediant in Paul Mitchell's detangler//juice a carrot or 2 or buy a can %26amp; mix it with your shampoo, leave it on 3 min..rinse ,then you can wash it out..Your hair %26amp; scalp will thank you for it!

Be careful / takes a long time to let hair grow back out, if it's really damaged.

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

So my hair is a medium brown color and I want to dye it black so I bought some black hair dye (Palette Schwarzkopf permanent black 1-0). I last dyed my hair dark brown in November but all the dye is pretty much faded out now as my roots don't even grow out in a different colour. If I dye my hair with the black dye, is there any chance of it coming out completely weird looking? My friend told me that you should never dye your hair with black dye because it looks completely different than the box, like more blue-ish. Is this true??? If I dye my hair with the black dye would it actually be black? PLEASE HELP!

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

I went from Dark Brown to black and i swear i love it, yeah at first it will look really black, but then the color is just beautiful.

ur friend dosent know what she is talking about !!! Black hair looks so much healthier, especially if you get a hair cut.. i recommend it!!!

i use to dye my hair all the time, Blonde, brown, red , blond with highlites and blah blah blah, but ive had black hair for about 2 years and sooooooooo many people compliment !!

check out my myspace to see

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

if you bought pitch black, it will be black not blue. it will look fine but there is a con to it. black will not come out easy. you wont be able to dye your hair a bright color for like a year unless you keep dying it over and over again. i highly regret dying mine black.

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

If Your Natural Color Is Medium Brown And You Haven't LIGHTENED It Within The Last 3 Months, It Should Take The Black Dye Very Well. As For It Being Blue, I Think That Would Be Blue-Black. If The Package Doesn't Say That, It Should Be A Nice NEUTRAL Black Shade.

Good-Luck!!

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

not true

as you can see if my pic my hair is black

trust me black will turn out black

it your hair it light just leave it in for a while

black is like the eaisest color to die

trust me i die my hair a lot

actually black is impossible to get out of your hair.

But seriously black will show up black a promise just leave it in a while because when my hair was light i had to leave it in a while like 50 min black takes good to hair.

Hair dye - PLEASE HELP!!?

I know your already bought the dye, but my advice for dying hair darker like you are thinking of doing is trying a simi-permanent first. ESP. since you you to go black. I have had great success with Natural Instincts number 36 Midnight neutral black, simi-permanent dye.

Because it is simi-permanent it will wash out and fade over time, but for the first time going black I think it is a good idea. Mostly because it is a pain and a half to dye over black or lighten black by yourself.

With the simi-permanent it won't look bad as it fades and your roots wont be as noticeable as with a hardcore black. Plus! There is no blue in this color! I have it on my head right now and it is def. not blue.

p.s. it also comes off your skin easier!

Hair Dye Horror?

I bought an intense dark red hair dye and dyed my hair last night. Due to what i think is having red tones in my natural dark brunette hair because the last time i dyed it red it turned out lighter. This Time It's way too bright! i hate it =[. I've used dish washing soap twice and clarifying conditioner, it's helping a little bit. I want to dye my hair a more warmer brunette. can anybody help? anything to help it fade more?

Hair Dye Horror?

put a ash brown over your hair.

Hair Dye Horror?

put lemon juice in ity,or swim, the chlorine washws off light colour or darkens light colour. After like four hours

Hair Dye Horror?

Maybe you should see your hairdresser before you do irrepairable damage to your hair.

Hair Dye Horror?

make something beautiful out of something u hate. make u like and dont worry wat others mite say.

Hair Dye Horror?

Oh, I've been there! What should have been a beautiful, elegant dark cinnamon shade turned MAGENTA!

Unfortunately, you're probably going to need to dye it again. Most brands have an 800 number for just this sort of thing. When I had my hair dye horror, they recommended getting a medium golden brown shade. It helped a lot.

Hair Dye Horror?

Did you buy it at a drug store or department store? Go to the nearest "Sally's" and ask a proffessional. What you're doing will not work; I know, I am a hairdresser. No one can give you the correct answer, without seeing your hair!

To have it proffessionally corrected will cost you more than most people are willing to spend, my price starts at $100.00 and goes up according to length of hair, amount of product used, time and knowledge invested. I make alot of money correcting mistakes made by do-it-yourselfers, mostly teenagers, and, believe me, they do not make the same mistake again. They are my best advertisement for this type of problem.

And you need to buy a top brand-named conditioner and use it, now!

Dish detrergents and clarifyers will strip your hair of essential oils and should only be only be used before a chemical service to remove medications or mineral deposits (e.g. iron) that have coated the hair shaft.

As for my advice, take it or leave it. It's your hair!

Hair Dye Allergy Test Question?

I was planning to dye my hair a couple of months ago. I did the allergy test and waited 48 hours and then never colored my hair. Should I redo the test since it has been a few months? Also, at what temperature should you keep hair dye? Our house has been under construction and during the day the house is 96 degrees and at night the house is around 75 degrees. I've been keeping the hair dye in the closet so not sure if the temp has gone up and down with the hair dye in the box. Thanks!

Hair Dye Allergy Test Question?

Did you already mix the product? If so its not any good (oxidation). The heat shouldn't be a problem, and if it is the same color you tested with before you do not need to do it again, if you switch colors you might want to do another test, but chances are you will be fine if you were the first time! good luck and be careful.

Hair Dye Allergy Test Question?

yes redo the test i guess something went wrong. of you just didnt use enough to make any effect. do it again. hair dye doesnt really matter whaat temperature its at if its one of the mix in ones that wasnt already mixed in. but any sort of cosmetic product or hair product shouldnt be kept at like 100 degrees

good luck!

best answer me!

Hair Dye Allergy Test Question?

well I did the test once a couple years ago and then ever since I havent done it....but it says on the box how hot it can be stored....

Hair dye??

what is a normal household product (Like vasiline, i think) that can be put on ur forhead (hariline) to keep hairdye from staining it?

Hair dye??

On a box of hair dye I was instructed to spread hair conditioner along my hairline to prevent this area from being dyed.

Hair dye??

some people put cotton wool round the top of there heads otherwise use Vaseline

Hair dye??

haven't tried it myself but have heard it works

Hair dye??

olive oil, butter any thing with oil based

Hair dye??

Yeah vaseline works, didnt you just answer your own question!

Hair dye??

petroleum jelly ???

Hair dye??

they do put vasaline on. But if you get it on your skin use nail varnish remover to get it of it works a treat

Hair dye??

Vaseline is the obvious but anything that is oil based. Lurpak, Astral etc. Putting cotton wool round help.

Don't forget once the dye is applied wipe round the skin with a damp cloth with some hair spray sprayed onto the cloth - this helps to prevent the colour developing.

Hair dye??

vaseline is the thing to use.

Hair dye??

milk removes hair dye from ur forehead

Hair dye??

I usually just take a soapy washcloth and wipe away any dye that gets on my forehead before it stains it. It works.

Hair dye??

Vaseline is most commonly used, but its consistency makes it hard to get off your skin. If you're willing to go out and purchase this, beauty supply stores sell protective base and protective creams. Protective creams are (obviously) a cream base and work just as well as a protective base (which is an oil base). A hair conditioner can be used but does not protect as well as an oil or cream base protectant.

Good luck!

Hair dye??

you can use vaseline, it works as a barrier to prevent the dye staining the skin.

Hair dye??

Put some normal mousturiser around your hairline, dont rub it in too much though %26amp; just wipe of when your done. Facial toner also works to rub of the dye you might get on your face.

Hair dye??

mois turiser can help.

Hair dye??

yes it is vasaline, once applicated, rinsed and dried... treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes... you will be the envy of everyone with these puppies...

Hair Dye Help Please :]?

I just bought Beyond The Zone hair dye in Not So Shy Violet. I have dark brown hair and I bleached it twice with a bleaching kit I bought at Sally's (I forgot what the kit was called). I followed all the directions on both products, the bleach worked, but the hair dye didn't. The second that I washed my hair after applying the dye the color came out. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, this is the first time that I have ever dyed my hair.

Hair Dye Help Please :]?

Did the dye come with a developer or did you have to buy the developer seperately? Maybe you used the wrong kind or something. See if you can get a refund and try again. I think that manic Panic works really well on bleached hair. It washes out with each shampoo though, so you'll have to re-apply every week or 2.

Hair Dye Help Please :]?

How long did you wait between the two? If the bleach wasn't completely out of your hair, it would've pulled the dye out.

Hair Dye Help Please :]?

Did the bleach product tell you to bleach your hair? I doubt it. Stop messiing with your hair or it's going to fall out.

To get this fixed.. go to a hairdresser and tell them exactly what you did.

Hair Dye Help Please :]?

Hmm, it almost sounds like you bought a temporary color. Nothing else would have completley come out. And when your hair is colored, its better not to shampoo it for a day or two afterward anyway. Cool water is also better for that, think about it like washing your clothes, Hotter water makes it fade quicker.

I'd go to a salon for a perm, with a hairdye I like Garnier or Loreal, I'd try to stay away from the cheap stuff..

Hair Dye ?

you really have to be care full about your choices, they place all types of strain chemicals in the products. to reach the picture "effect". avoid all with dihphomicloride , this will fry your hair in no time better to let a color professional do it and not be sorry later!! good luck and go get it girl!!

Hair Dye ?

It depends on your hair. What works for a friend will look totally different (and maybe worse) on you. I have been dyeing my hair for 20 years and it's a total crapshoot. Once you find something stick with it! Never hope to get a better color 'cause switching brands can ruin you. I am a bleach blond. If you want great blonde colors: Feria X-Lite Bleach Blond rocks! No yellow/brassy tones. I've also used Feria when I was a redhead. I think they offer the richest, multi-faceted tones. Good luck!

Hair Dye ?

I use clarol , or gardner.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

My hair is naturally dark brown. If I dye my hair a light, golden brown, will that be easier on my hair than going blonde? I understand "natural" hair is healthiest, but is blonde hair dye more harsh on your hair than brown hair dyes? Thanks so much for any advice!!

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

The only way to actually lighten your hair is to use bleach - whether you go white blonde or somewhere in between. Bleach damages it - fact. Go for the colour you want! But remember maintenance is expensive!

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

Im Blonde And Brown But Blonde Is Better By Far

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

hmmmm keep you hair dark brown, its sexi

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

I don't think the colour makes a difference... All hair dyes will damage your hair! The best thing is probably to use special shampoos and conditions for chemically treated hair afterwards, to keep it healthy. Also, a "natural" way to lighten hair is just to pour on lemon juice and then stay out in the sun.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

Anytime you lighten your hair, you run the risk of damage. When lightening hair you are usually using harsh chemicals in order to remove the color from the hair (bleach or peroxide). The light brown-if bleaching-means the bleach will not be in your hair as long, when using a peroxide based color the times are usually the same, but the peroxide volume is higher. I would say the healthiest option is going to be a light brown peroxide based color/lightener.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

going blonde will be harder on your hair because it totally bleaches the color out. if you really wanna go blonde, dont try to do it yourself. you will end up with bright orange hair. make sure you go to the salon to get it done.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

blond dye is much worse than dark, it causes a lot of breakage and dryness, mostly because when you go from dark to blond it contains a bleaching agent.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

the hair color has the same effect, bleach on the other hand is really bad for your hair!!

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

Hi you cant dye your hair blonde if you have dark brown hair as it wont work, you have to bleach it. I recommend using highlighting first as going all blonde will see a bit weird after being dark so long. So us Bblonde Highlight medium to dark brown hair and leave on for the maximum time it says about 2 hours and then you will have lovely blode highligts dont wash off till the hair looks blonde or yellow or white all over as you might end up with ginger patches.

But if you use a blonde hair dye it wont take at all and if you use just a brown I dont think that will work much either. You can get a hair dye that by LIVE colours which is for dark hair to lighten it but I have never tried it and I wouldnt really recommend it as you could end up orange.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

BLONDE DYE ARE YOU CRAZY???? that is basically bleaching your hair which can dry it out FAST. if you want a lighter color keep the brown but try a LIGHT brown. good luck

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

As said before, dark hair would have to be bleached and you are unlikely to get the colour that you want from a regular bleaching alone so you would then have to put a colour on it as well but it isnt recommended that you do it straight after bleaching as your hair needs time to recover. There are some dyes out there that include lighteners in them but they dont give great results. You might be best doing it gradually with highlights - think Jennifer Aniston.

Blonde Hair Dye vs Brown Hair Dyes?

I have natural dark brown hair and hed blond hair and now light brown hair look for vigena chestnut brown i think thats how u spell it or blond hair if u want wont make a difference

Hair Dye..?

Well, i've had trouble with this, and i wonder what colour would look best on me? (other then brown!) (: so if you can help, please do.

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

hey everyone

Okay so, Ive been dying my hair for a long time now (its naturally dark Brown), a deep red that I do myself with the L'oreal Feria Kit (is that how you spell it?)

Anyway, Yesterday I decided i wanted some nifty higlights, so I went to the salon and chose a burgundy base colour and a wine red colour for hair lights

Im pretty sure that was the worst decision ever, I think they put in too many higlights coz all my raid is now cherry red and It looks so bad I could cry. I dont wanna dye my hair again (ive alredy dyed it twice since the beginning of the year)

I tried googling it but the only answers they have out there are how to lighten a dark hair dye, nothing on how to darken a light hair dye..anyone know what to do?

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

you can by a toner (which is not hair dye, but found in the same section). it will make your hair darker, tone it down, and make it glossy and moisturized. plus, the highlights as they are now will gradually fade and dull over time anyway. good luck!

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

Try a temporary rinse. You can find them that wash out in one shampoo or fifteen. It will give you a darker look without further damaging your hair.

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

Eek! You poor thing! OK, here's the BEST thing to do. Go online or pick up your phone book and call a salon that specializes in "color correction." They can safely strip the color from your hair and safely re-dye it to a better shade. Safely. Even if you've dyed it twice already this year.

Or, better yet, call the salon where you got your hair done and tell them you don't like it! They may fix it, or at least charge you a discounted price to fix it. You never know.

I was going to say to just buy a box of dark brown and color the hell out of it, but..... well, here's my personal horror story:

I had fuschia hair once and then tried to bleach it out (yeah, I was 18....) and my hair turned the color of orange sherbet. I then decided, what the heck, I'll just dye it brown and it'll cover it up. Nope. I ended up having a bizarre light brownish orangish color hair for a while! Lesson learned. :-)

Good luck!!!!

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

they probably used a lightener first for the hilights, this is usually done by stripping the color, then depositing the red on top of hair that is already red and pourous.

You might try a haircolor with no peroxide to temporarily tone it down. then wait 4-6 weeks to get a professional to fix it. Remember your hair will grab color fast so try to stay neutral.

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

From experience I can tell you that it will end up costing you time and money trying to fix it and you'll be doing more harm than good to your hair. TRUST ME make an appointment at a salon to have it fixed.

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

I know you don't want to die it again but die it close to your natural color. Later if you want to die it try a wash out die because if you don't like the color you can wash it out or die it again. Please don't use the salon hair die because if you don't like it you can't really do much about it. Oh another thing, change your hair stylist. Do you really want someone how messed your hair up? Believe me I gone through the same thing.

Hair Dye Disaster! -- Help needed ASAP?

Girl, this just happened to me! Except, it was a pink ish/stop sign red. I know! It was a mess. I called a salon and told them the story. They put a chemistry peel on my hair,... which stripped the color away, then they deep conditioned me becuase I had just dyed it two days, after that they put in a green based dye to counter the red dye and viola! It was a very low toned red, so low tones it looked dark brown with a hint of red. I love it now. Not yesterday. But anyways, call another salon asap and see what they can do for you

Hair dye??????

my freind wants this thing that u color ur hair with. but its not hairdye. its fake and it washes out in the shower. but it isnt that stuff u spray on.

can anyone help me find it.

its made by conair.

Hair dye??????

yea there is this other one not by con air its fudge like hair dye but not permanent it washes out in 30 days it's called "paintbox hair fudge" you can buy it on ebay

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

I recently dyed my hair JET BLACK. I loved it for while, but now I'd prefer to have my brown hair back. How long should I wait until I re-dye it? And I've looked at drugstore hair dyes that are specifically for "dark hair" that lighten your hair. I've used it in the past on my natural hair and it was fine, but the package says that they don't suggest using it on hair that has been dyed a color darker than dark brown (which I just did). Should I still re-dye my hair??

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

HI, I dyed my hair jet black once also and after a month didn't like it anymore, so i tried to dye it back to a brown and....that was not a smart idea my hair turned an orangish color and i ended up having to have them fix it at the hair salon. They say Red and Black are the hardest colors to dye , I would definately suggest going to a pro to re dye your hair...

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

Unfortunatley, no. It will ruin your hair, and damage it. It may look bad for a few weeks, but just wait because you shouldn't risk your hair to re-dye it. It will also eventually grow out. And If you are desperatley needing to change it I would wait 2-3 weeks and give your hair a break and go dye it to the color you want. I would also go to a hair stylist and ask to fix it.

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

I hate to tell you this but hair color will not lift hair color. Black is the hardest color to lift up and out. The only thing that will lift it is bleach. The color black is made up of a lot of different colors, it has red, orange, yellow. You would have to bleach your hair until you got to the level of brown you wanted and by pass the reds. If you really really want to do this please go to a professional. It is a extremely tricky thing to do by yourself, lookat it this way if you try to do this yourself and really mess it up you are going to have to go to a shop anyway and spend double the money.

Good Luck

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

it wont take good you have to wait till your hair grows out

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

Hair dye can not lift artifical color out of the hair. The black dye will have to be lifted from your hair with a low volume bleach. Loreal sells one at drug stores called the "Artifical Haircolor Remover Kit", but i suggest you go to a professional.

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

if you put a color over the black it won't do anything,it will still be black. The only way to get the black out is to use hair color remover and that is very damaging. You should just let the black grow out, keep trimming your hair to get rid of the black.

Re-dye my recently dyed black hair??

How recently did you dye it? Give it a few weeks before you try anything too harsh on it. My hair wouldn't let go of the black for a whole year and it was semi permanent! My hair stylist told me that a good way to get color out was to use Dawn dish soap on it. But this will dry out your hair so I would wait. She told me this after mine had been dyed a few months so I don't know if it would help on freshly dyed hair. Just thought I'd tell you what she told me.

Hair dye???

What happens when you leave hair color in longer than the box says?

Hair dye???

Depends how long. My friend always dyes her hair and when she tried to dye it from brown to blonde it turned black because she didn't do something right. Then she tried to turn it back to brown and it turned red...now its a dark brown/black color.

Hair dye???

Most hair colors stop working after a certain amount of time on your head. I have often left mine on a little bit longer than said. It has never hurt my hair or caused the color to be off in any way. I wouldn't leave it on for very long periods of time just due to the fact that the chemicals are not good for your hair.

Hair dye???

depends on how long and what color, if your going blond, it could turn your hair green.

Hair dye???

the color migthnot be the same if over processed

if not right consider going to a stylist and not try to fix it or you risk damaging yor hair

Hair dye???

I suggest you follow what the box says......I'm pretty sure it's for your own good.

Hair dye problem...need help..!!?

hello...

my Mother is really allergic to hair dyes...she has been using just henna on her hairs for about 7-8 years...but now she is tired of it...it is really difficult to apply henna then keep it on ur head and then wash it...its kind of mess... she has tested about 4-5 hair dyes which caused her allergy i.e her forehead seems to be swelled up..and she feels dizziness and itchiness,..can anybody please help out and tell that is there any dye which does not cause allergy...if u have used any such dye then please help...there is no store in our town that offers free hair dye sensitivity test..can u please tell that REVLON COLOR SILK , LOREAL CASTING or LOREAL NATURAL MATCH. causes allergy or not ???i have heard that they are ammonia free...so should we buy them or not?do ammonia free dyes cause allergy or not...??please help out....

Hair dye problem...need help..!!?

what color dye do you want???

i'm also allergic to ALOT of hair dyes mostly the dark ones...

i'm a hairdresser so i have to watch what i use on other people aswell

she would be having a bad dermatitis reaction to them as i do..

i end up with red lumps all over my body..

its quite grose.

i suggest a natural hair color like herbatint you can get it from most heath food shops.

its ammonia free and doesnt have any harsh chemicals.

i find its the only one i can use on myself.

its not always the ammonia that causes the reactions its a chemical in the dye called dihydroxynaphthalene or diaminoanisol

just try to avoid them as much as possible as well as ammonia...

i really suggest the herbatint though...

its your best chance as not causing an alergic reaction.

Hair dye problem...need help..!!?

If your Mom feel like a change and is scared of trying any more products the only thing I can recomend is to continue touching up her root with the ussual colour and treat herself to a few (around 10-15) Foil Highlights just on the top area It breaks the solid colour and the best part is that it does not touch the scalp which means no more painfull test of what work or not. If the colour is dark ask for a low light .....2-3 shades lighter then what the hair is, is always a safe and natural option. She should then only do her (tinted) roots every 4 weeks and have the roots (high lights) re-done every second time she does her tint to save a bit of money. Good Luck

Hair dye....?

I just got my hair done at the salon. It's highlighted and lowlighted. The highlights look great-- except for a small strand in the front. The majority of the blond is very light and pale, but there is a strip that is darker than the rest and very brassy [ it must have been a darker piece previously that was not bleached long enough.]

It is driving me nuts since it's right in the front-- I was going to try touch it up on my own. It's already blond, just needs lightened some more. What home remedies could i use to lighten this little strand? Or would you advise against it?

Hair dye....?

just bleach it a little

Hair dye delimma? :/ ?

Well...I dyed my hair about two mos. ago with a demi-permanent black hair color. I really liked it! (However, a lot of people didn't. :/ ) But anyway...

It still hasn't washed out of my hair much at all (possibly because my hair color was so light to begin with...?), but it has just faded really badly to a dark brown-ish color, only on the bottom layers of my hair.

My hair is pretty damaged right now due to everyday blow dry/straighten, only on the ends though, but I am going to get the damage cut off this weekend.

I want to keep my hair black until at least after summer...

But I am thinking that eventually I may want to change it in far future. (I get bored a lot. lol)

My question is, is should I re-dye my hair with demi-permanent again, or with a permanent dye?

Which would be better?? :O

Thanks~閳?:%26gt;

How to Pick the Right Hair Color based on your hair color and undertone to avoid color failure

http://geebal.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-t...

Hair Dye..............?

I want to die my hair a different color im tired of my dark brown hair!! I Don't want to die it at home!

I was kind of going for hair like this:

http://www.mtv.com/onair/made/assets/fli...

(sorta redish)

or

http://www.mtv.com/onair/made/season_8/f...

http://www.mtv.com/onair/made/season_8/f...

(has kind of a purplish to it)

idk what to do i have brown eyes, brown hair and medium skin! I've never died my hair before but i want non-permanent!

If I get non-permanent will it leave stains on my hair?

I'm mainly aiming for hair like that but not to wild becuse in my school you can only have human hair colors so nothing to noticeable!

Also any pics you can suggest.

Hair Dye..............?

You can't really dye your hair a color lighter than it is without doing it permanently. It just doesn't work.

Also, even colors like burgundy (barely purplish brown) can get you in trouble at schools like that. I've known people who got suspended for having off-brown colors.

Hair dye. no change ?

helloo. i just dyed my hair like two weeks ago. my hair color is black and i wanted it reddish brown. when i dyed it there wasnt any difference. and today i just redyed it the same color and there was still no difference. did i do anything wrong while dying it ?

i applied some of the hair dye to my hair. then i put a plastic bag over it like the instruction said. and i let it sit for 40 minutes. then after wash out until the water that runs thru hair is clear. then apply conditioner.

did i do everything right ? how come i dont have the hair dyed %26gt;%26lt; help please

Hair dye. no change ?

If you followed the instructions, then yes.

Your hair may be resistant which means it's stubborn and won't lighten easily. In this case, i'd recommend you use a mild bleach pre-lighten before using a color.

Did you use a semi-permenant haircolor? If so, you should no it's not possible to achieve a lighter shade with these types of dyes.

Did you dye your hair with black tint THEN try to dye it lighter? Permenant haircolor will not lighten hair that's already been colored - so this is another reason why it mightn't have worked.

In any case, haircolor will only lighten on natural hair, so ur only chance to achieve the result you want may be to bleach hair 1st, then color

Hair dye. no change ?

That is very strange.

Most likely just a low quality product.

But just as a bit of advice, it is not smart to dye your hair more than once within 3 weeks.

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

I heared that if you dyed you hair to much it could cause a cancer. Is this true?

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

THE CLAIM: Hair dye causes cancer

THE FACTS: Hair salons everywhere can reassure their graying customers.

For more than 30 years, scientists have warned that potent chemicals in hair dyes heighten the risk of developing cancer, but new research may now help to put those fears to rest.

Much of the concern stems from studies conducted in the 1970s that showed that some ingredients in hair dyes could damage human cells and cause cancer in animals. advertisement

Sales of the products began to slip when later studies found higher rates of breast, bladder and other cancers in people who dyed their hair regularly.

But last week, a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association looked at 79 relevant studies and concluded that the evidence for a link was weak.

In the studies, even people who colored their hair frequently or used strong permanent dyes that were thought to pose the most danger had no elevated risk of breast or bladder cancer.

The researchers found a "borderline increase" in the risk of blood-related cancers, which include leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. But they said the link was "too weak to represent a major public health concern."

Some potential carcinogens were stripped from all dyes in the 1970s, and others are used today only in minute quantities.

THE BOTTOM LINE: The evidence of a link between cancer and hair dyes is weak.

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

cancer, no. possible hair loss, yes.

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

some people believe that, I dont think it's actually been proven. if you're using a home dye though, definitely do a sensitivity test 48 hours before you apply the dye and dont use it if you have any hives or cuts on your scalp as it is possible for the dye to leak in and cause serious damage

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

I don't think so!

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

no

that is not possible

you have a name that sounds romanian. You are from Romania?

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

I don't think so but it might cause you to become addicted to dying your hair

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

I don't believe it and I dont' reallly think there is validity to the "no haircolor during pregnancy"

Haircolor has been around for a LONG time maybe 60+ years. If it did cause cancer or put you at a health risk then I think by now there would've been some sort of study on it already, don't you think?

Hair Dye???????????????????????????...

There was a study years ago that certain BLACK hair pigment used in haircolor may cause cancer. There are very few people that actually use true black haircolor because there are very few people that it looks flattering on. African American, Asians and Hispanics even usually prefer a deep, dark, rich, warm brown as opposed to a harsh gothic looking black.

There was also a red pigment in the 50's or 60's that was banned in the US because of cancer fears. It is still available in Europe and other countries. I have had clients that are international flight attendants that would only get their red haircolor done abroad because the beautiful, vibrant, possibly cancer causing red pigments are not available in the USA.

Chances are you're probably not using the European Red haircolor or a jet black color.

Hair dye...? Help Please?

hahah yes i agree with the first person.

permanently dying ur hair black is a completely bad idea.

bleaching, cutting, bleaching, cutting, damaging, losing hair, bleaching..

that will be ur routine.

you'll have to bleach it in order to get it out, and u still wont be able to get it out so u will have to cut ur hair and then u keep bleaching it, then eventually it will be damaged and fried and from it being fried it will start falling in some places and yes biggg mess.

so dont do it. unless you want ur hair to turn out lik etha.t

Hair dye...? Help Please?

Ok speaking from experience...DO NOT DYE YOUR HAIR PERMANETELY BLACK! Becuz if ur like me, u will get sick of it and want to dye it another color. But u cannot dye over it! So u'll have to strip it which RUINS your hair. Or just wait for it to grow out which looks awful! Trust me on this...if u want it black, just keep using the demi-perm.

Hair dye...? Help Please?

Do a demi permanent and trust me on this one.

I've resorted back to permanent black hair constantly.

And then I feel like lightening it.

And its an absolute pain in the neck to lighten black hair.

It takes a toll on your hair.

I bleached mine recently after a month or so of conditioning and trimming.

Use demi so you can still lighten your hair color without having to bleach the heck out of your hair.

I'm planning to bleach all my hair, and just use a demi permanent black dye so I can keep going back to light hair if I like.

: )

Hair dye????

dont you think people are dying their hair 2 much, and worrying 2 much? Have you dyed your hair? how many times? Any what is the most common color?

Hair dye????

im 13 and i have dyed my hair 10 times.

including highlights lowlights and streaks..

i stopped and dyed my hair back brown[natural color]

dyeing ur hair is too overrated now lol.

Hair dye????

8 years because its fun to shake things up once every little while, red/ brown.

Hair dye????

i will probably only die my hair to get rid of the grey. i hate people who dont stay natural. jsut be yourself.

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

Hey everyone. I have naturally dark brown hair but I dyed it black around 3 months ago. Now I want to go for a medium to light brown. Problem is, my parents absolutely forbade me to bleach it, strip it of the dye, or lighten it with chemicals in any way. No arguing with them; their minds are made up. They said that I'm only allowed to dye it.

My questions are...I know there are some hair dyes made specifically for lightening dark hair by a few shades. Can anyone reccommend some brands?

Also, if I bought 2 boxes of the same color and dyed my hair twice, would that help get it closer to the shade I want, or lighten it a little bit more?

I need answers as soon as possible. I need to try to change my hair color by the end of the month for an event I'm attending.

Thanks in advance!

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

Dying your hair two times will not make your hair lighter. It will only damage your hair.

There's a product called L'oreal Hicolor that's made to lighten dark hair without bleach but I think only professionals are allowed to purchased it.

You could try dying your hair a couple shades lighter and then dying it again with a lighter color. But wait at least 2 weeks in between the hair coloring. You also have to consider the color base when dying your hair so that it will not turn out in an undesired color (like green).

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

You will need to strip the black out of it before it will take any new colour

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

use henna shampoos and do it gradually

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

I reccomened not dying your hair again.

your guying to fry it down to baldness.

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

The best way to do it is to find a way to make your hair blonde again then get it brown from there. If you dye it directly from brown, the dye won't work, and you'll have an ugly purple-ish color looking hair.

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

OK, first off, all hair color is full of chemicals, wether you are darkening or lightening the hair, unless it is natural henna. If a box color tells you otherwise , they are lying. Natural instincts is not natural, etc.

So given that information, you are much better off lifting out the black with a gentle "on the scalp" lightener untill it matches your root out growth color, wash condition, dry your hair, then procede with your new color.

hair color is made to deposit color into your hair, after it lightens it a little bit. So if you put a color over what you have now, you will get light roots, with the black still there. doing it twicwe will only make it worse. DO NOT TRY IT! You will be sorry, I promise you that.

The colors made for lightening dark hair are made for Natural , uncolored dark hair. They will do nothing to the artificial black pigment you put in your hair 3 months ago.

Good luck, and be sure to tell your parents that either way is full of chemicals, so you might as well do it the right way, instead of making it worse. ( i am a pro, fyi)

Hair dye question. Need answers ASAP?

Rub cheese in it.

It works. Trust me.

Hair dye...............?

i get my hair dyed alot at the moment i have brown and blonde in my hair but the hairdresser didnt do it very well so im going back there on monday, does any one know any good websites that have nice hair colours in them? i finkin about having some black and blonde in my hair or something? or if any one has pictures of their hair and think its really nice? or something, many thanks

Hair dye...............?

type in hair

Hair dye...............?

i like to google these type of things. i click on images and browse. alot of times they want a picture, at hair salons. i wouldnt go back to that person. maybe try somewhere else.

Hair dye...........?

My hair is naturally black, but I got it lightened it and now I don't like it. Its still really dark, but its brown. I know that sometimes its risky to try to color it yourself so I am wondering (since its not a drastic color change) if I should just buy something and dye it myself or should I get it done professionally anyway. Any thoughts? tips? product ideas?

thanks

Hair dye...........?

You could do it either way, but getting it done is alot easier. I tried to dye my own hair, and even with my mom's help it was hard. The smell is also horrible and if you are faint hearted you shouldn't try it because i almost fainted. well not really but anyway, it ended up horrible. Store bought dyes never turn out the exact color it says. Hope that helps!

Hair dye...........?

Head on over to a professional; I've had too many bad experiences with dying it myself or having my friends do it. It's a bit more money, but you get what you pay for. Good luck!

Hair dyed, how long to i wait to dye again???

Ok so i had my hair permanently straightened in June and I just dyed it brown on saturday but it doesnt seem very damaged by it. I had redish light hair and i wanted it to be a coool light-medium brown but it came out WAY toooo dark b/c the hairdresser left the dye it too long. My hair doesnt seem very damaged (as i said before) so i was wondering how long i should wait to get it dyed a dark blonde/brownish color, but much lighter b/c i look very weird with dark hair and i dont like it at all. So anyone who has expirience with hair dying, how long should i wait?? PLEASE HELP I AM MISERABLE WITH THIS HAIR! THANKS SOOOOO MUCH. =)

Hair dyed, how long to i wait to dye again???

Can't you go back and make the stylist make it right? You paid good money to have your hair colored and she screwed it up, she should make it right.

If the stylist used semi-permanent haircolor, you may be able to lighten it yourself by shampooing your hair several times with a clarifying shampoo.

Hair dyed, how long to i wait to dye again???

ur supposed to wait 6 weeks and on top of the straightening of the hair, it would be much worse if you dyed it too soon.

like ur hair will fall out if you dye it again. sometime soon.

Hair dyed, how long to i wait to dye again???

Well your haircolor will fade considerably over time. To speed up the process buy a clairifying shampoo and wash it with that untill you fade it out enough. It is tough and damaging to lighten a color that is too dark with hair color...you can't put a lighter color over a darker color to make it lighter it doesnt work that way she would have to strip some of the darker color out and that can be very damaging to your hair which is already damaged from chemically straigtening and coloring it. Try the shampoo thing and if you don't get it as light as you want let your hair rest a little while then find a new hair colorist!

Hair dye delimma...?

My natural hair color is light brown. I have done my own blonde highlights for a few years, but this summer I had them done at a salon for the first time and haven't gotten them redone since. My hair grows fast, and as of yesterday I had some pretty BAD roots. I wanted to go lighter, so I got Loreal Preference in 9G, which was suppossed to turn my hair warm golden blonde. Well...let's just say it didn't. It turned my roots a golden reddish color, which oddly enough blended in with the rest of my hair (which didn't seem to take the dye much.) My hair actually looks pretty, so I'm not worried. But apart from my newly unnoticable roots, by hair doesn't look noticably different.

1. Why didn't my hair take the dye?

2. What can I do next time to prevent this from happening?

3. How long should I wait before re-dying my hair, and what kind of dye should I use?

Hair dye delimma...?

I have been dying my hair for YEARS and YEARS. I have found that certain brands won't 'take' to my hair.

I made a switch to Garnier Fructisse or however you spell it.

I have stayed with the same brand and color for about 3 years or so now. My choice is called Champagne Fizz and I leave it in for an hour!

I love it and I think it looks great. Look at my pic.

I have recolored my hair the same darn day, if it came out bad!! I know it's not good for your hair but heck, I was in a pickle at the time!!

I am really satisfied with Garnier's Champagne Fizz. I am not sure how blond you want to go but try Garnier and give them a try. I have stayed with them from the FIRST time I tried them.

Just pick a color ya like and Good Luck!!

Hair dye delimma...?

Your hair probably didn't take the dye because either it was wet, you didn't follow the directions correctly, or it was too close to your natural hair color. Next time, be sure to follow the directions and buy a dye better for your hair color. You should wait at least a month before re dyeing your hair. Consult a hairstylist as to which kind of dye to use, but i recommend a more gentle, natural dye such as herbal essences or pantene.

Black hair dye is a NIGHTMARE !!!?

i have naturally black hair that i`ve dyed light brown. the last time i dyed my hair .. i had it dyed black once .. then a few months later .. dyed it black again .. (big mistake) anyways, i know black hair dye is a nightmare to get out, but it`s starting to fade. i`m wondering if i use red hair dye, will it work ? (even a little bit would make me happy) or would it just stay black ? .. i really don`t have the time to go to a salon %26amp; i look evil with black hair !!

Black hair dye is a NIGHTMARE !!!?

black hair color is the hardest to get rid of.

if you really want to change your color you NEED to go to a salon and have ALL color completely stripped from your hair, meaning your hair wont have any pigment left in it. after you do that you are free to color it any color you want and shouldnt have too many problems. i wopuldnt suggest a red though because it is the second hardest color to get out :)

having your hair color stripped is hard on your hair so if you do it be sure to keep your hair really hydrated afterward.

Black hair dye is a NIGHTMARE !!!?

It probably won't...black hair dye is pretty strong, and once you dye it black, there's really no turning back. You have to bo 100% positive that you want it like that. I would suggest making time to go to the salon, or if you wanted to use the red dye, bleach your hair first and then dye it, but that takes a lot of time and can really damage your hair.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Black hair dye is a NIGHTMARE !!!?

I have had this problem before. Don't use red because the black wont take the dye and your roots will, thus causing you to have a red "crown." It would look silly.

Loreal has this stuff called preference (I think it is this brand) Anyways, they have hair dye made for people who already dye their hair and wish to go lighter. Look on the box. Get the stuff that is specifically for people with dark hair.

Black hair dye is a NIGHTMARE !!!?

the only way to really get rid of black hair color is to "bleach it out." this really should be done at a salon.

The red may just give you a severely red tint of black hair. It may also end up worse then the black it self.

sorry I can't be of more help.

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

ok, so i have dark brown hair and i dyed my hair today and i used semipermanent hair color so it wouldnt damage my hair... i left the dye on for 15 minutes just like it said and then i rinsed it off and washed my hair with special shampoo.... the thing is, it was supposed to turn my hair kind of like a dark blonde caramel/reddish, but instead it came out looking pretty much copper-brown, its a pretty shade, but i dont know why it didnt work the way it was supposed to... also, the top of my head and my roots are MUCH MUCH redder than the rest of my hair, so it looks bad... what should i do, and what do you recomment for the next time i dye my hair if i want a blondish caramel color?

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

Lightening dark hair is tricky. It is worth the investment to go to a professional next time. The box should have a hotline number to call for extra help this time. Good luck.

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

a permanent color is more useful when going from dark to light. Any time you go from dark to light you're going to get darker results and it will look less natural. I recommend either waiting it out or going to a salon and getting it re-dyed. I wouldn't re-dye it yourself or else it might end up worse - much worse. If you can't afford to go to a salon try dying it a shade darker than your natural hair color, but red sometimes likes to stick so it may be in your hair for a little while. If you dye it the shade darker yourself, make sure you use permanent hair dye, and wait at least 6 weeks until you dye it again.

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

The problem was that your hair was too dark originally. When you dye your hair, it takes better to lighter hair. If you dye it again it should come out the color you want but wait a little while. Also a tip is to not wash your hair a couple days before dying it so that the dye will be absorbed better.

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

The color will fade as you shampoo it, hair always looks darker when you first dye it, I'd speak to the clerk who works in haircare and have her recommend a product with the results you are looking for. Wait at least 2 weeks before applying another colour. You can always use google to find all the brands of hair colour out there, "Garnier Nutrisse" "Natural Instincts" are both good products, sometimes it can be a hit and a miss when colouring at home, it never really does look like *whats on the box*.

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

Okay what to do is. go to a professional salon and tell them to do it right. it only costs like 60 dollars

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

ok, first off.... semi permanent hair color is not meant to be used for lightening your hair. semi permanent means it will eventually rinse out. so it must not have been semi perm color... the box may have been but the color and developer inside may have been different...

so if your hair is really skrewed up.. i suggest going to a professional, before you really mess it up!

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

As for my horrible experience that happened lately hun.

Do not color it any time soon and you have to keep in mind that not all colors work or come out the same way as it is showned in the box. I would probably and most likely go to a GOOD hair salon or studio and ask a hair stylist. Also, if you have previously dyed your hair it wont come out the same way as it's shown in the box since what it's showned in the box it's for "virgin" hair, hair that has never been colored before.

Your current color will most likely wash away so you shouldn't have to worry hun.. and it sounds like it looks nice anyways. =)

Hair dye gone wrong.... help, please!!?

you should leave it it sounds pretty

Can i dye my hair again?

I had brown hair that I recently went to a professional hair stylist for and she used the wrong hair dye. Turning my hair strawberry blonde instead of the golden blonde to platnum blonde i had wanted. This was about 24 hours ago. Would it be safe for me to use a over the counter blonde hair dye to dye the strawberry blonde out of my hair tommorrow? While i was there my hair was cut so the old damaged parts of the hair are gone. If so what are the best dyes to use for this? And will it damage my hair?

Also i only want to dye the top of my hair and leave the underneath darker something like this

http://www.funkydo.com/images/blonde_bro...

Can i dye my hair again?

You do not want to get any hair dye and try this yourself. There are some dyes that use metalics to color your hair with and are very hard to change once they are in your hair. Also they have different base colors, such as blue and green and if you get one that has the green you could be getting an orange looking head of hair. Please know that I did that once and look like a ball of sunshine. I am sure that you want to avoid this.

Since it was the salon that made the mistake, they should be the one to correct it at no cost to you. I once got low lights in my hair and asked her not to put a lot in and she did anyway... I went back and had it re-done at no cost to me. They should also be able to advise you on how soon you can get this done. Most likely they should be able to do this in a couple of days.

Just note that with the hair coloring that you are, if you are not close to that natural color, that you will need to get a root touch up every 6-8 weeks. Maybe do some chunky hightlights or something easier to maintain.

Can i dye my hair again?

Use drugstore dyes. My mom's hair is graying and she uses them all the time. Her hair looks great, and her hair is fine!

Can i dye my hair again?

no no no no that will be a massive mistake if you dye over it after such a short time, i suggest going back to the hairdresser and tell them you are unhappy with your colour and they may use professional products on your hair to get the colour just right, thats if they decide to colour over it as it can damage your hair and colour completely

Can i dye my hair again?

you can not lighten your hair with otc hair color once it has already been colored. if you want it darker fine, but otherwise you will have disasterous results. It has to be bleached or a professional color remover will need to be used. call the salon and they will absolutely fix it, at no charge

Can i dye my hair again?

You can die your hair in 2 weeks, and go to someone that knows how to mix color b/c if you dye your hair now you will damage it.

Can i dye my hair again?

cutting the "dead" ends off of your hair isnt going to effect the damage that youre going to do to your hair. when you color your hair, it penetrates the entire hair strand, shaft and all. so, every inch of every stand of your hair was chemically altered, not just the ends. do not, i repeat, DO NOT use OTC color. it sucks, its horrible for you hair, and it never turns out the way it looks on the box. find another stylist to get corrective color.

also, i would go back to the salon and complain. you should have refused to pay for the service until you recieved the style that you came in for. never just walk out hating your hair. theres no turning back from that. almost any salon will SUGGEST you allowing them to fix it for you.

Hair dye????????????????/?

is it ok to dye your hair when your pregnant?

Hair dye????????????????/?

Yes, its harmless.

Some people choose to avoid all forms of fumes or toxins in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy where the risk of miscarriage is high although there is no research linking hair colourant to miscarriage is malformation of the foetus.

Congratulations on your pregnancy xx

Hair dye????????????????/?

Yes. I can't figure out why people think that would be a problem. It's also okay to hang clothes out on the line. (Not that anyone does that anymore). They used to tell me if I hung clothes out on the line, the umbilical cord would wrap around the baby's neck.

Hair dye????????????????/?

no it could be harmful but dont be worried try those herbal dyes less chemicals going thru your bloodstream

Hair dye????????????????/?

It is usually ok. The only reason people tend to think it might not be is because of the fumes from the dye. If you are going to do it, i do recommend doing it in a well ventilated room. If you really are worried about it though, the best person to ask this to is your doctor. Just call up their office and ask the staff. They will usually know what your doctor would recommend in a situation like this.

Hair dye????????????????/?

Yeah Its Perfectly Fine But When Dying You Hair And The Baby Is Born,, Make Sure They Dont Smell It Because Of The toxins Which Can Harm your Babys System,, Im 13 And Ive Had My Hair Dyed Before So Theres Nothing To Be Afraid Of Just Dont Dye Your Hair All The Time Other Wise It Will Get Damaged

Hope Ive Helped

Hair dye????????????????/?

Well when i was pregnant, i read baby magazines that said NOT to use hair dyes, perm solution etc, as they contain PPD and ammonia, the baby might have an allergic reaction. Wear a wig till after the birth!

Hair dye????????????????/?

I wanted to know this to, not so long ago and was given this site off my midwife

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/art...

i found that it really helped and have dyed my hair several times throughout my pregnancy and my baby is fine.

Hair dye????????????????/?

i think it's not okay to dye your hair anytime because it kills some of your hair roots and burns your skull.

i don't think you should dye your hair especially if you are pregnant.

ARE YOU PREGNANT?

Hair dye????????????????/?

yes but you shouldnt do it in the bath and you should have showers for the next few weeks until the dye has completely run out and stuck because it can cause miscarriage if it gets near the vagina.

also try to avoid dyes with ammonia and peroxide as these can have a negative effect because of the gases they produce.

Should i dye my hair again, lighten it or let the dye grow out? :S?

i use the Schwartkopf Live XXL hair dye brand to dye my hair and i have done for the past 5 months.

the basic story is that i dyed my hair 5 months ago using the Deep Black shade, which came out fab, and then a couple of months later when it had grown out + faded a little i thought iwould try the Cosmic Blue shade. It gave my hair a really intense shine, but u could only see the blue in really intense light, + it faded to black after a week or so.

then idyed it agen a couple of weeks ago using the same shade, but i'm still a bit unhappy with the results, as the same thing happend again, pretty much.

now i want to dye my hair purple / red using either the Mystic Violet or Red Night shade, both suited for my naturally very dark brown- black hair.

But Im not sure whether to let my hair grow out and have the rest of the black thats still growing out or just let a dye fade a little and then put in dye straight on top, or lighten my hair?

Should i dye my hair again, lighten it or let the dye grow out? :S?

let the black fade out over the next couple of weeks and then dye it the dark violet! !

It' s gona look fab!

gluck!

Should i dye my hair again, lighten it or let the dye grow out? :S?

DON'T wait for it to grow out. I get my trimmed now and again since I had it died almost 3 years ago and it still hasn't grown out! I think you should dye it again. I also have very dark brown/black hair.

You can always get it stripped so the colour will come out if you want it out completely.

Should i dye my hair again, lighten it or let the dye grow out? :S?

Do it now

Hair dye allergies?

After getting my hair dyed red last summer I had a severe reaction to the dye [was almost hospitalised]. Despite being told the dye was temporary by the stylist, it is now a year later and about half way down my hair it suddenly gets much lighter :P

I was really dissapointed about this as I'd been wanting to dye my hair for ages. I now want to dye my hair blonde but I don't really know the situation with bleach and allergies. And does anyone know about any alternatives to hair dye I could use?

Thanks! :)

Hair dye allergies?

What I would suggest to you is to go to a salon and tell the stylist what happened the last time you tried to have your hair dyed. Incest on a patch test to see if you are still allergic to the dye. You may not be as your system could have changed since then.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.

Hope this helps.

Hair dye allergies?

i don't know any alternatives because all hair dye has a chemical in henna tattoos, which isn't supposed to be in henna tattoos. if you ever had an alergic reaction to a henna tattoo when you were younger, then that is most likely your alergy and you won't get to dye your hair. sorry. :[

Hair dye problem !!?

I recently dyed my hair a blonde colour, it was semi-permament but yesterday i was looking at the hair dyes because i would like to dye my hair brown, and i realised that i think i accidently dyed it permament.

It didnt come out the colour i wanted it to, and has now faded to a slightly dark blonde.

I dyed it about 3 months ago and the colour hasnt come out.

Is there any way i can strip the colour other than just washing and waiting? I heard washing my hair with washing up liquid can strip it quite quick.

I really need to know because i am going to town later and i want to buy a brown , semi-permament hair dye, and im worried that it might go a funny colour.

I am thinking of buying nice %26amp; easy (it was voted product of the year) , its two for six pounds , if anyone has used it is is good?

I just really need some advice please i just want a change for new year, but i don't want it to be a disaster!

many thanks in advance.

Hair dye problem !!?

If you buy a brown, and leave it in for the correct amount of time, it will go brown, and will not stuff up your hair colour. But whatever you do, do not wash you hair with washing up liquid. That will just ruin your hair completely. But the best think is to book into a hair salon. Or even just go there and ask for advise on what to do. Hope that helps :)

Hair dye wont cover?

Ok so I dye my hair constantly, I mean I wait the prefered amount of time to dye it but now it wont cover. Whenever I dye my hair the roots take to it but not the rest of my hair. My hair is now black brown and red because of the dye screwing up. Ive even tried using two boxes but it just wont work. How can I dye my hair but have it cover the whole thing not just my roots. Because it looks ridculous with red roots and the rest black. Anyone know of anything I can do? I also cant afford to go to a salon to get it done, but it really needs dyed badly. Can anyone help or tell me where I can get some help??

Hair dye wont cover?

First of all, I hope you will take my advice as I am a hairstylist. Here's a clue as to what has happened. Color does not lift color and that is why your ends keep darkening rather than going the color it should. Your roots of course will take to color because it is not previously colored. My advice is that if you do not like the color it is now, seek professional help from a stylist. I will tell you though that if your hair is severely damaged it is not wise to get it fixed. Most stylist's will do a soap cap which consists of clarifying shampoo, bleach, and peroxide to lift the unwanted color. Also if your hair is in good shape and is able to be fixed, be prepared to spend money that you really don't want to spend because we go by the amount of time it takes to correct your color. Secondly, once your hair is fixed and I am not by no means trying to criticize you, but go to a professional when it comes to color. Box color has metallic dyes and hennas that are not good for your hair and will make it dry and brittle. I hope you will take my advice. I know that you may not be able to afford going to a salon to fix your problem, but trust me as I have seen many mistakes on people(non hairstylists) giving advice to others to correct your problem. It won't happen. I am sorry about your hair. Please seek help or maybe someone can borrow you the money to get it fixed. Another option which I try to stay away from is to cut the hair if your not happy and is less expensive. One more thing, all the others might tell you to keep trying with another color or brand and because your hair is very porous it will just keep darkening rather than lightening except with the use of bleach. Plus, some of the box colors might not tell you what color they truly have in there and you might end up with green, grey, or an awful color.

Hair dye wont cover?

I'm a constant dyer as well. If the dyed part of your hair is black, you can't lighten it up to take another color without bleaching. Another issue is regarding the number of times your hair has been dyed (especially important for longer hair that sees more dying). Each time you dye your hair, you've damaged the strands of hair, and this will, over time, make the hair take the dye unevenly.

But my guess is if you've got to lighten the black first, and you WANT to do this at a salon so you don't end up with burnt-to-a-crisp hair that's strawlike and orange. (personal experience)

Hair dye wont cover?

You need to try to stick w/ one color and have several highlights put in w/ this color and eventually phase out to the whole color honey and just do the roots when they start showing about 1/4 inch probably about every 4 to 5 weeks. This will give you healthier hair and a more even color. I'd try for a color in between the three you have like medium ash brown and stick w/ it until some of it grows out and then start slowly cutting a 1/2 inch off each month until then so you will get the ****ed up colors out of it. If you highlight heavily w/ the med. ash brown two or three times in a couple of months you will soon get to do all of the roots w/ it and then repeat until you get the one color. Good luck!!
