Hair Dye??Help!?

I really want to dye my hair two-toned(like Jamie Lynn Spears) with blonde on top, and dark brown on the bottom. Right now, My hair is medium-darkish brown. I have tried to put blonde highlights in my hair once, but they turned orange (yes i went to a salon). Apparantly, I have naturally red highlights in my hair, but you cant see them. If I bleach my hair, before i dye it blonde, will it still turn orange? Please only answer if you know, and This is not an opporyunity to trash Jamie Lynn, I just want my hair to look like hers, because she is the best example that i can find. Any Other advice is welcomed. Thankyou in Advance!

There are several stages to bleaching hair... all determined by how long you leave the bleach in. In the first stage, color begins to be removed from the hair and the hair turns a streaky reddish orange (not a good look)... then if you leave it on longer it will be a yellow orange, followed by bright yellow, then pale white. You probably want to go somewhere between the last three steps before you dye it blonde.

Be very careful though, double processing the hair causes a lot of damage. Be sure to use the bleach conditioner on the hair in between steps, or your hair will be super-fried. Afterwards, make sure you baby your hair for a week or so to repair this process.

Take a picture of Jamie Lynn's hair to a salon with you. You will NEVER be able to pull this off yourself. Also, go to a good salon for color. The cheap ones can never do the job right.

your hair is just how mine is, you must of not gone to a good salon b/c i have blonde highlites in my hair and they look blonde. Neways, i think it would look good. but do NOT bleach the chemicals and acids in the bleach will mkae your hair fall out ( i did that once :[ ) so just get them normally done but at a good salon adn i wish you the best

well, it all depends how you bleach it and stuff. i recently just tried to dye my hair blonde, and it turned bright orange, but that may be because it was a dark brown.

just get really heavy highlights, and tell them how it turned orange, they'll change the toner. or, have the salon do the color.

and for underneath (i've done before.) you just tie up the hair you don't want dark and put a shower cap, or something over it, just to make sure you don't get any of the dark dye on the blonde color.
