Hair stylists; question about hair dye!?

is it better for my hair to a) dye it monthly with a semi-permanent dye or to b) get my hair done with permanent dye at a salon? also, how often do you have to get your hair redone at a salon (i know its permanent but i expect it fades a lot)

Simi permanate will not dammage your har, it also known as a toner. works just as well. Howevr i suggest going and havin iut done to avoid a color dizaster.

I would say semi permanent in case you do not like the color, and if you end up liking it you could always dye it again once it fades or go to a salon to get the permanent color.

as a salon owner stylist and colourist, I am going to say always a salon better products, and you won't believe how many home dye disasters I see. depends also on how porous your hair is after a strand test a salon will know

also the right toner helps as well, I would say you would look at getting your roots done about every six weeks max, which is not a big job, a lot of salons have model nights and they are 100% supervised and a whole ;lot cheaper, also with a salon you have a comeback if things go wrong, at home you have to find someone to correct the damage, anyway sounds a good colour go for it

semi permanent fades faster..about 4- 6 shampoos.

permanent lasts about 6 weeks.u ned to get it done every 6 weeks.

the damage caused by semi permanents is not as bad as a permanent, but if you decide to use semi permanents once a month, after 1 year, your hair will be ruined, if it is a color you want to have for a long time, use a permanent.

hair normaly grows at a rate of 1.5 cm/month, if the color you have now is midium brown, and the color you want is a worm dark brown, the roots wont be noticeable, so i think you should get it redone once every 6-8 weeks

remember to take care of your color, use a color gloss once a week, and conditioner almost everyday

ps. when people say that permanent lasts 6 weeks, what they mean is that after 6 weeks, people will be able to see your roots

Get it done.

Box dye doesnt have the quality that the salon mix does, and they know how to mix the color according to your present color, with the least amount of damage done.

If you use a shampoo and condition that helps prevent your color to fade ( like Dove) that will let you wait around 5 - 6 weeks to get it done again. Also getting your hair dyed darker is better than lighting it.
