How to dye Ginger hair?

I have ginger and have being dying black for a year or so but would like to go a slightly lighter colour like medium brown. I currently apply medium brown hair dye but it still goes black. How can i dye my hair brown at home or do i need to get the ginger bleached out first. And also do the hair sprays work (the garnier ones) or wouldnt they work on my hair?

i wouldnt advise you to bleach it and then dye it brown because it will have a green tint to it u ned to go to the hairdresses and they will strip the hair of all the colour and then do it properly hope it helps

i am ginger to

personally i suggest nt dying your hair at all

you are betraying your ginger streak and there is nothing wrong with it

ginger makes us individual and anyway it gives you a bloody good excuse to be really fiery tempered.

why waste your money on dying your hair when you don't need tyo in the first place. besides dying your hair too much, especially bleaching it makes you go prematurly bald

if you have ginger hair you should be able to just put a brown dye on without stripping the colour out. avoid colours with warm tones in because your hair has natural warmth in already.. but it would be best to see a professional if you are unsure

black wont dye out so you can only change the colour of the regrowth . if your hair is quite fair red then in time you should be able to go a lighter brown . if your hair texture is stronger then it may resist lighter colours altogether or they may wash out . hope this helps.

Have you ever tried using an Ash Brown shade?

I may be wrong, but I was always given to understand that ash toned brown gets rid of red tones. You should phone the consumer advice help line for Clairol or L'oreal and check with them. In the past I've used Nice%26amp;Easy Ash Brown and found it did get rid of the red and brassy tones in my brown hair.
