I have dark brown hair. I want to dye my hair black. I'd really rather not go to a professional and have it done b/c I really don't want it to be permanent.

If I buy black dye from the box that's not permanent, will it wash out? I ask b/c I feel like black might stick around longer than just dying it a different shade of brown.

I don't think it will wash out completely. Black dye is so so so dark. If it does fade away, your hair still might be a little or a lot darker than your natural. I would go to a professional. I work in a hair salon and there are semi-permanents in a hair salon. Just tell them you don't want them to use permanent dye. But they will probably tell you that it might not fade completely.

If you use those at home kits, it might be harder to remove if you decide you don't want the black after realizing it didn't fade the way you wanted it to! So many people come into the salon after using box color from a drugstore. Then the salon charges an arm and a leg because it's called a color correction. Plus, if you get it done at a salon and then change your mind later, they'll know exactly what they used and it will be a lot easier to remove the color.

Also, if you use a semi-permanent or a temporary, make sure you're not sleeping on light pillows or using your good towels! It will stain.

It probably will cuase I dyed my hair balck two times but I used permanent hair dye.. and it didnt fade so i think it will then.

I think it would fade out because my brother used black dying stuff and it faded out.
