I can only find Semi-Permanet hair dye such as special effects and such. I have dark brown to black hair and I don't want to bleach my hair first. Does anybody know of any PERMANENT purple hair dye?

What you are wanting can't be achieved. If your hair is virgin (meaning you never colored it) the color will not absorb. The best you can hope for with the color is highlights. You will have to bleach your hair to get true to life purple. If you bleach your hair once, apply the semi permanent color, and follow up every three weeks, you'll be fine. Semi permanent is the way to go because in the time it would take for the color to wash out, your hair would have grown enough for you to need to re-do the roots anyway. For anything drastic as permanent, I'd go to a salon.

I dont think colors like that come permanant...i had my hair all the colors of the rainbow and i used maniac panic...it comes out bright but always rinses out in the shower when you wash your hair....so dont use good towels to dry your hair!!!...and you have to bleach it first or you wont see it but i dont recommend that at all i bleached my hair to have those colors when i was 15 and i regret it now at 23 cause my hair is just now growing out to be healthy.....

unfortunately there is no permanent purple hair dye, I've tried myself. You can go to a salon though and get a color as close to purple as you can get for permanent, but it still fades. The best purple that I've used, that's stayed in my hair would be the special effects pimpin' purple.

they don't make permanent purple color. you have to bleach out first and use the manic panic purple and your hair will grap the base color which will be purple.

I died mine blue in high school, got the cosmotology girls to strip my hair b/c it was dark brown. THen after they died it blue w/ manic panic they soaked it in white vinegar, it smelled awful but the color stayed great

the cosmetologist above gave good advice. but if you bleach out your hair, and put on semi perm. color, it kinda becomes permanent... but don't bleach too much b/c then it'll fade.

if you want a dark purple, bleach out to a red/orange undertone.

if you want a lighter purple, bleach out to a golden orange yellow (like a sunset).

if you want it lighter paler purple, bleach to a yellow, like a banana peel.

The closest thing that you can have done is a vibrant eggplant done in Framesi color. It is a very intense professional Italian hair color. If you prelighten at home and then just have this done over that you can get a color you like. You can just use your Special Effects for at home weekly maintenance. ALL hair color will fade, especially the vibrant reds/ violets in the summer time! Best of luck.

None of the more outrageous colors come in permanent dyes. Getting your hair these colors requires extensive bleaching to get your hair very light. Then applying the color, it will fade in less than a week, and you will have to put color on again. Please..... coming from a hairdresser....dont do this to your locks!! There are plenty of AWESOME extensions that can be put in your hair and easily removed to give you a more flexible.... forgiving.... yet AWESOME hairstyle!

Well, I have died my hair purple several times. I currently just have hightlights and lowlights in purple. I actually buy raw purple passion from hot topix and my beautician puts it in. I like this color best because it is a realy purple and last pretty long for me using well water. I like this purple because as it is fading it turns a nice lavender instead of burgandy or red. Most of my colors end up getting orange because of water.
