Can i dye my hair brown when it's still blonde?

ok well, a while ago, i got my hair bleached/dyed light blonde from a professional hair place.

it's still blonde, but some is fading out at the top. my natural color is a dirty dishwater blonde.

what i wanna do is get my hair dyed a dark brownish color. do i have to wait until all the blonde is gone from my hair to re-dye it? because i really don't wanna do that. i'd rather dye it brown as soon as possible.

i did the same thing over summer. and i have the same "not so attractive" color hair you do. its just so drab. you cant just through on a color over the blonde. it would turn different colors-most likely green, or gray.

what i did was put a semi-permanent color on the blonde to fill it in-then put the color over my whole head. usually the bleach soaks up the color-but mine eventually faded. but at least it didnt fade back to the really blonde it was-that i wanted to get rid of. eventually after doing a couple of times it is now what i want it to be. i would say go to a professional-that way if you dont like it-they fix it.

if you are doing this yourself, get a semi permanent color with a warm undertone-golden or on the red side-to fill in the pigment taken away from the bleach. depending on how that color comes out (the part not applied to your roots) you might have to put an ash color on it if it turned out too red.....then whatever color brown you wanted on your roots.

color correction is the hardest thing. you dont have to wait til it grows out. but i have seen more mistakes when people try to do it themselves.

i dont know if you ever tried to dye your hair darker than it is now, but mine doesnt take well-it always wants to be lighter. if you are going darker than your natural, just dont go too far off of your natural color.

well how long has it been exactlty since you dyed it blonde? because you might have to strip your hair ( taking the dye out) it will damage your hair alot. but not as much as dyeing it from brown to blonde. slowly change it . like if its really blonde now. start dyeing it dklight brown or something. a darker color.

It is easy to go from light to dark, you can do it yourself, the color might fade though, because if it was bleached the bleach would have strip all the oils from the hair, not letting it hold color very well, but you can dye it darker and just touch it up every 4-6 weeks.

You can usually redye your hair in 6 weeks or so. I would go to the the hairplace and have it done professionally. I wait at least 6 weeks before doing mine, the previous color doesn't have to be all gone before you redye :)

you can color it now.. do it professionally though.. they may have to use a bottom or filler color first and then whatever color you want over that. The reason is, when you lighten.. you strip all of the color out of your hair and it leaves it very porous... so its more likely to soak up color..which can leave your color muddy. The Filler a stylist will use will fill those pores and give the stylist a base to work with to get you right to that color you want.. or at least as close as possible. Good Luck!!
