Waiting for next hair dye?

Hi everyone! does anyone know how many months you should wait before you dye your hair again? (not only the roots, your entire hair). I just dyed my hair last week and am planning to dye my hair again for my friend's wedding in June ( after 8 months from today) to a lighter color. My friend said it is ok to re-dye my hair after 6 weeks but I think that is too soon and might really damage my hair (my hair is already damaged). Thanks!

Well, since you're going lighter, you're going to have to bleach. You can use a color stripper like L'oreal's hair color remover kit [available at walmart] to get the dye out so the bleach won't work as hard to lighten. I'd suggest you just leave it in til next year. I mean, it's not until June, so you have a while. And if your roots are darker than the color you're lightening to, you'll have to bleach again. So, just wait until maybe 3 months before the wedding.

As for dying/lghtening in general, you might wanna wait up to three months and force a fade by constantly washing your hair and basically not taking care of your color.

I dyed mine 3 weeks ago and Im going again tomorrow. But my hair never really gets damaged so I would ask whoever does your hair.

If your hair is really damaged you'll want to stay away from coloring/bleaching for a few months. Color it a solid color that won't require upkeep and do some deep conditioning treatments. (Pureology hydrating conditioner is a good one you can use daily AND sleep in for deep conditioning... it's in a purple bottle and can be found at ULTA3, beautybrands, of your hair salon) June would be way long enough to wait to recolor your hair... by then it'll back to a healthy stage and you can bleach some out to go lighter. Good luck and don't to forget to get trims in between.. it helps your hair to NOT break off or have frizzy ends!!!

On average, most people have their roots/regrowth touched up at the salon every 4 - 6 weeks. So, you would be safe to touch up your roots within this time frame.

Color will not lift color, so when you go to lighten your hair, you will only be able to make your roots/regrowth lighter. Through the previously tinted hair, you might want to add some highlights with a bleach/lightener to make sure you match the ends to the roots. Typically, after a period of time the ends fade, so if you aren't going that much lighter, you will probably be able to blend the roots with the lighter color to the old colored ends by just adding some hilites.
