Why does my black hair dye fade after a week?

Okay, I have dyed my hair black at least 5 times over two years and it fades within a month, sometimes even a week to my original brown colour. I know all dyes fade over a period of time, but it says "permanent" on the box. I have used some cheap dyes and some expensive dyes but they never stay. I have short hair that is naturally brown and I straighten it often. I don't really wanna hear that it's my shampoo, because I use a shampoo for colour treated hair and even added some Manic Panic in Raven to my shampoo to keep the colour. I also rinse my hair in cold water. I don't use hairspray or anything else in my hair. Does anyone know a good dye that doesn't fade, or what I can do to prevent fading after a week?

It's either not got enuf ammonia in it. or maybe your hair is got so much healthy keratin, it washes out. if you do wash your hair every day, it will wash out quicker.

also ; call the company. some lots are some 'permanent' than others %26amp; you can not always tell by the box.

So I used the blackest blacke I think its like a blue black and I use nice and easy, permanent. I cant get this out of my hair!!!!! Not even the girls at the salon could bleach it out, I also have dark brown hair and thick hair. Try this one if you havent.

Everybodys hair is different and takes to hair colour differently. Is it just the black that washes out so quickly or is it other colours as well. Because by the sounds of it, it is just your hair type. The only option I would try if i were you, would be to go to a hairdresser and get them to colour it black for you and see if that works

well you need to go to a salon and have it done professionally done. What there gonna do is have to bleach your hair like a platinum blond then the have to die it black. Its like a brunette going blond even though ur hair is already dark; in order for the color to last a while thats what has to happen. When ur using the box hair dye from the stores it will do the trick only for a certain amount of time as u can see. Also dont wash ur hair often; try to wash it twice aweek. When ur hair is straight you dont have to wash it often unless ur like into sports where u sweat alot. But yeah it might cost some money but w/ all the money ur spending in dyes at the store it will be worth it and also when u do that all u will need it to do little touch ups on the roots; now until ur hair is starting to grow out then its ur choice if u wanna do the same color again and 5 times in 2yrs thats alot... u dont wanna be 30yrs old w/ fried hair cause of alcohol.

either you use flat iron or chemical to make your hair straight, it make your hair dry.

especially when you use chemical for straighten, it cause fade.

maybe you want to try dark henna?

it might stay longer.
